Sarah: There for me, every time I've been away Will you be there for me, thinking of me ev'ry day Are you my destiny, words I never dared to say Will you be there for me? Just think of you and me, we could never toe the line It's such a mystery just to hear you say you're mine And while you're close to me, so close to me Just hold me José: Se non sei con me, mi sembra grigia la città Camminando solo i piccoli vedo giocar Volti e voci del passato che non ricordavo più Mi chiedono Both: Are you still there for me? Forse qualche giorno poi Il mondo capirá che non molto [può] capitar E tu ci sei per me senti cosa dicono But you're just there for me Sarah: And while you're close to me, so close to me Just hold me José: Dimmi quanto tempo ancora resterai con me Dimmi quante cose mi nascondi dentro te Molti sogni abbiamo che alfin potremmo vivere Io spero che Both: You are still there for me? Forse qualche giorno poi Il mondo capirá che non molto [può] capitar E tu ci sei per me senti cosa dicono But you're just there for me Sarah: There for me José: There for me Sarah: There for me |

Time To Say Goodbye
written by L. Quarantotto, F. Sartori, F. Peterson

She had been asked to find a song to sing at the retirement fight of the German world light-heavyweight champion, Henry Maske, and felt "Con Te Partiro" was perfect, and the rest is history. Since their duet singing Time To Say Goodbye -Andrea Bocelli has become an international singing star and The song made history in Germany becoming the biggest selling single of all time. This song has become a firm favourite at the end of Sarah's concerts.
Covered by artists such as Katherine Jenkins, Amy Nuttall, Keedie, Blake, Hayley Westenra and many more too numerous to mention. Donna Summer recorded a dance remixed version called I Will Go with You (Con te partirò).

Sarah Brightman
Artist Biography
After spending the last five years successfully building a world-class career in Europe, Sarah Brightman turns her attention to America with the release of Time To Say Goodbye. The album’s self-titled single is already a phenomenon in Europe, topping charts in England and all over the continent. Brightman has teamed with the London Symphony Orchestra to record an exquisite collection of songs which showcase her operatic voice in a variety of settings.
“Time To Say Goodbye is really a departure from the things I’ve been doing for the last five years. The album really encompasses me and my work from the past to the present,” says the 36-year old singer, who blends in a varied mix of styles and languages on the album, including English, Italian, Hebrew and Spanish. “It covers pop, musical theatre, light classical music and opera. It’s an eclectic mix that really showcases who I am and what I’m about.”
Internationally renowned, Brightman is as well known for her star turns in such notable Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals as “Phantom of the Opera” and “Aspects of Love,” as she is for her exquisite ballads. What you may not know, however, is that in the last seven years, the songstress has recorded numerous albums ranging from pop and techno to Broadway, opera and classical fare, each with panache and her signature flair. Her well trained and captivating vocal ability has made her one of the decade’s most sought-after and respected performers.
“What I tried to do with Time To Say Goodbye is what I’ve tried to with my life, and that is make it varied.” She adds, “I wanted to be able to put two songs of completely different musical styles next to one another and make them work. We used an arranger to make the whole album blend together. This way a person who would listen would not overtly notice the change in styles, but rather they would blend together in a flowing manner.”
The album’s lead single, “Time To Say Goodbye (Con Te Partirô),” a romantic Italian duet with tenor Andrea Boccelli, has already taken Europe by Storm. The song is the biggest-selling German single ever, having spent 16 weeks in the top spot of the singles chart; it was certified five times platinum, selling nearly four million copies worldwide. It also charted in France, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, the U.K. and Israel, among other countries. “Time To Say Goodbye’ is a song that had a very deep, poignant feeling. It’s sad and beautiful. Anyone can relate to it,” says Brightman, who discovered the song while sitting in an Italian restaurant and brought it to her record company to record as a duet with Boccelli. “It’s romantic and soothing. It’s one of those songs that just captures you from the start. It’s a beautiful, classic piece of music. It’s about horizons — about someone who wants to be with someone, but can’t. It’s about essence. It doesn’t tell a specific tale. It’s all implied.”
Brightman also teams up with Argentinean tenor José Cura for two of the album’s most exquisite selections -- the moving “There For Me,” and the heartbreaking “Just Show Me How To Love You.” “Just Show Me...’ is one of my favorite tracks. It’s quite sad. It’s about a woman who says that she loves a man, but at the end of the day he doesn’t want to be with her,” Brightman says. “Sad songs are usually the ones that people are drawn to.”
Other tracks on the album include “Tu Quieres Volver,” written by the Gipsy Kings, Brian May’s “Who Wants To Live Forever,” Francis Lzi’s “Bilitis-Générique,” Mozart’s “Alleluja,” Puccini’s “0 mio babbino caro,” Carl Orffs “In Trutina,” and “En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor,” by Joaquin Rodrigo and Aifredo Garcia Segura. Also featured is the little known “No One Like You,” a :_...nting cover of a song previously recorded for, of all things, a soft core adult movie. “It was just so exquisite, I felt my voice lent to its simple beauty,” Brightman says.
“Growing up and living in Continental Europe and having all the various languages around me — Italian, Spanish, French — and all the various influences around in turn influenced me while making this recording. That’s one of the reasons I chose songs like ‘Tu Quieres Volver,’ ‘Naturaleza Muerta’ and ‘Alleluja,” she says. “My family lived in Spain and these songs showcase the essence of the country. I needed and wanted to sing from composers from the area near to where I come from and lived.”
Born and raised outside London, Brightman was originally trained to be a classical ballerina. Though she trained in acting and singing, her primary focus was dance. When Brightman was 13, she appeared in “I and Albert,” staged at the London Piccadilly Theater. At 15, she became the youngest dancer ever to join the “Top Of The Pops” dancing troupe called Pan’s People. And at 16, she joined the risqué British television dance group Hot Gossip. At 18, with Hot Gossip, she recorded the single “I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper.” The song broke the Top 10 of the UK pop charts and made her a national sensation. It was at this point, she realized that her calling was to sing, not dance.
In 1981, she made her appearance in the original cast of “Cats” by Lloyd Webber in the West End. Three years later (by then married to Lloyd Webber), Brightman starred in the London production of Lloyd Webber’s musical “Song and Dance.” The following year, in 1985, Brightman earned critical acclaim and international attention for her brilliant performance in Lloyd Webber’s “Requiem” in New York and London, for which she was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best New Classical Artist. In the same year, she played the role of Valenshien in The New Sadler’s Opera’s “Merry’ Widow.”
But Brightman’s greatest and best known Lloyd Webber role came in 1986 when she created the character of Christine in Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera” in London and New York (1988), a role that Lloyd Webber wrote specifically for her. The role earned her a Drama Desk nomination and solidified her place as a true superstar in musical theatre. While Brightman and Lloyd Webber parted company romantically, the two maintained a close relationship and the singer went on to play the role of Rose in Lloyd Webber’s “Aspects of Love,” on Broadway (1991), for which she earned rave reviews. She also appeared in “The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber In Concert” and toured the U.S., playing to standing room only audiences.
Outside of musicals, Brightman has performed in a variety of operas all over the world. She has performed in New York (Metropolitan Opera), Moscow (Philharmonic Society Orchestra and Tchaikovsky Hall) and Berlin (Philharmonic Orchestra and Wald Buehne). She has appeared with the Sadler’s Wells Opera and performed in Kenneth Macmillan’s choreographed version of “Requiem” for the American Ballet Theatre at the Met. She also toured extensively throughout Japan, where she is a huge star.
On the recording side, Brightman has been equally successful. She has enjoyed five top 10 hits in the UK, including “I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper” (1978), “Pie Jesu” (1985), “All I Ask Of You” from “Phantom of the Opera” (1986), “Phantom of the Opera” (1987) and “Amigos Para Siempré,” a duet with Jose Carreras that she recorded especially for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. The single soared to the top of the pop charts in the UK (earning platinum status) and broke onto the music charts in the U.S.
Besides her top two charting UK releases, Requiem and the London cast recording of “Phantom,” Brightman has recorded nearly a dozen albums, including the cast recordings of “Cats” (London), “Song & Dance” (London), “Aspects of Love” (London and Broadway), and Rogers & Hammerstein’s “Carousel.” Her 1989 collection of folk songs by Benjamin Britten and her 1990 solo set, The Songs That Got Away, a collection of American pop standards, were huge sellers in the UK and in the U.S., as was her follow-up, As I Came of Age. Sarah Brightman Sings the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, in 1992, and Surrender, The Unexpected Songs, which also featured the music of Lloyd Webber, were also notable hits for the diva.
In 1992, Brightman decided it was time to make a change. She moved from England to Germany, where she currently lives, and linked professionally and romantically with Count Frank Peterson, who has written and produced her last three recordings, including Time To Say Goodbye. “1 felt I needed to go somewhere where people didn’t know who I was and start fresh — someplace where they didn’t associate me with Lloyd Webber. I felt I needed to be a success with no past. I needed to make a change to be able to earn a name for myself as Sarah Brightman. I needed the assurance that I could stand on my own two feet.”
In 1993, Brightman decided to take the road less traveled by recording a pop album. Dive was a complete departure from anything she had ever done, combining techno beats with pop grooves. “It was very experimental,” she recalls of the project. “I needed to get away from the whole musical theatre and classical music areas. I needed to find my own niche. When you are part of a production and are playing a part, it’s hard to find a niche of your own. I needed to find a niche for Sarah Brightman and Dive allowed me to do that. I still love that album.”
In Europe, the techno-infused Dive made her a solid force in the pop and dance music industry, as did its follow-up, Fly (1996), which was released only in Germany and was a top seller in that country, spawning the top 10 hit, “Question of Honour.” Fly also featured more contemporary styles, including tracks reminiscent of the Cranberries and Alanis Morrisette. She dueted on the album with Bocelli, as well as Chris Thompson and ‘60s crooner Tom Jones.
“The move from Lloyd Webber to pop to this combined work that is on the new album has been a natural progression for me,” Brightman states. “I remember at one point in the early-’90s, someone told me I was crazy not to be doing [more of] ‘Phantom’ and ‘The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber,’ where I could make lots of money. But I turned it all down. A lot of people thought of that as a big risk, but I was prepared to move onward. I felt that I had something new to offer. It has taken me seven years to explore and do a lot of things to discover myself I experimented with two pop albums. I worked even harder on my classical music. And I’ve gained a new respect from it all over the world. I feel like I covered a huge amount of ground. I feel like I’ve gone forward in leaps and bounds within my own thing. Before, I was always playing a role. I was known for being a part of someone else’s work. Whereas now, I’m singing significantly different pieces of music that are all a part of me. I’ve found my niche.”
Sarah Brightman’s Not Saying Goodbye!
# 1 on the Classical Crossover Chart for 20 weeks!
‘Time to Say Goodbye” has sold more than 12-million copies
Unprecedented 10 weeks on Billboard's Pop Charts
Critics praise Sarah Brightman as having a “truly glorious” and “angelic” voice. Her new recording, Time To Say Goodbye, is #1 on Billboard’s Classical Crossover chart and is currently on Billboard’s Pop Chart, selling more than two-million copies worldwide. Her single, “Time To Say Goodbye,” has sold more than 12-million copies worldwide. Time To Say Goodbye on Angel Records, now Joins the elite list of albums to remain atop the charts for 20 consecutive weeks.
Brightman, calling upon her international successes both in Opera and on Broadway, marries the best of these talents in creating this powerful collection of opera arias and new, contemporary pop songs. Brightman has brought in two new stars to join her: Andrea Bocelli (with whom she sings the title track) and José Cura. It was Brightman who discovered the melodic beauty of “Time to Say Goodbye” while dining in an Italian restaurant and was so inspired that she had the song arranged as a duet for her and, at the time, aspiring tenor, Andrea Bocelli. Brightman sings two duets with Argentinean tenor, José Cura, as well as songs written by the Gipsy Kings, Brian May, Mozart and Puccini.
Born and raised outside of London, Brightman was originally trained to be a classical ballerina. It was after her successes with Hot Gossip, a British dance and song group, that she realized her destiny was to sing. Her career brought her to the attention of Andrew Lloyd Webber and she was cast in his West End production of Cats. Their professional relationship grew strong — with her winning performances in his Requiem, Aspects of Love and Song and Dance. But it is for her portrayal of the original Christine in Lloyd Webber’s internationally acclaimed Phantom of the Opera, that earned her a Drama Desk nomination and solidified her place in musical theatre history Brightman is one of the rare few to have success singing on the stages of Broadway and in the top opera houses around the world including New York’s Metropolitan Opera. Hear what the buzz is about, Sarah Brightman’s Time To Say Goodbye on Angel Records.
