The perfect tribute to a tragic star

AFTER watching recently the repeat of the BBC tribute to Jessie Matthews, Catch A Falling Star, my mother, who remembers Jessie in her heyday, commented on the resemblance between Sarah Brightman and Jessie Matthews.

It Is sad to think that on. of this country’s biggest and brightest stars, of both stage and screen in the Thirties and Forties, had such a tragic end to her life.

It would be a more fitting tribute to her If a musical were written around her life story, using those wonderful songs she sang, with Sarah Brightman in the title role.
