Eyes were glancing Hopes set high But just another day went by Tears are falling Like never before Still she's staring at the door Broken promise Will you understand My heart is in your little hand I hear you call my name And always you'll be Blood and soul part of me My second element I am longing for you And always you'll see That you reflect on me My second element Are you missing me too? Time keeps moving She's in so deep And she cries herself to sleep Angels dancing In the night And she cuddles up real tight Children's laughter Sunny day Never more I go away Just like and endless dream And always you'll be Blood and soul part of me My second element I am longing for you And always you'll see That you reflect on me My second element Are you missing me too? And always you'll be Blood and soul part of me My second element I am longing for you And always you'll see That you reflect on me My second element Are you missing me too? |

Ship of Fools
written by Music: Peterson & Lyrics: Peterson, Andrews
Remember the day When I first set my eyes on you and You said the same Seemed like everything was right for us Endless nights of loving All my doubts and fears went away So tell me what went wrong Now I need you Do anything to get to you 'Cos we're riding on a ship of fools Now you're not the same And all that's left are memories of The times we had Seems like it always has to end this way But now know your secrets And the time is right To tell To tell me what went wrong Can you hear me? Do anything to get to you Cos we're riding on a ship of fools Do anything to get to you Cos we're riding on a ship of fools |

Once in a Lifetime
Written by:- Music: Peterson, Schwarz, Meissner & Lyrics: Peterson, Brightman
The italics lines (which are in Spanish), more spoken than sung and very faint in the distance, do not appear in the CD-booklet. Thanks to Gene Laycock and MacKenzie, Nilda, and Roberto Gonzalez I can give the Spanish lines as well as a translation in English shown above. The original version of "Once In A Lifetime" is on the Gregorian album Sadisfaction (1991), by the Sisters of Oz which was the name Frank Peterson gave to the two female vocalists featured on Sadisfaction. Despite the name, this female duo are not actual sisters. The dark-haired Susana Espelleta sings most of the lead vocals for the verses, while blonde Birgit Freud provides harmony during the choruses. As The Sisters Of Oz, they featured on only one other album: Sarah Brightman's Dive - although it's not really clear on what songs they sing.
Princessa performs "Once In A Lifetime" on her album I Won't Forget You" (1999)

Cuando anochezca
Let me dive in
Then I feel your sea
Todo tu cuerpo temblara
When you take me
Found a part of me
Once in a lifetime
Giving you my soul
Found a part of me
Found a part of me |
When the night falls
All your body will tremble |
Original Lyrics from here
Once In A Lifetime
Cuando

When you're
near me
When I realise
there's no telling lies
Todo tu cuerpo
temblara
When you touch
me
Once in a

Giving all I've

The dialogue in song 6 is an extract from the movie "Mutiny on the Bounty":
|
The song originally comes from the band Procol Harum (maybe better known for the song A Whiter Shade of Pale, which Sarah has also covered) and this song is the title track of their third album, A Salty Dog (1969), The Greatest Hits album and 2 live albums.

All hands on deck We've run afloat I heard the captain cry Explore the ship Replace the cook Let no one leave alive Across the straits Around the horn How far can sailors fly A twisted path Our tortured course And no one left alive We sailed for parts Unknown to man Where ships come home to die No lofty peak Nor fortress hold Could match our captain's eye Upon the seventh sea sick day We made our port of call A sand so white And seas so blue No mortal place at all We fired the gun And burned the mast And rowed from ship to shore The captain cried We sailors wept Our tears were tears of joy How many moons And many Junes Have passed since we made land A salty dog The seaman's log Your witness, my own hand |

Seven Seas Written by Peterson & Andrews Waters deep Waters blue The gently flow From me to you Your coloured voice It's vibrant toned The hidden force Of the big crystal blue And by the light Of the silvery moon The wild horses Come running home Miles apart But still entwined I like to think That you sit here too And let your thoughts And let your soul Be gently lulled By what's in front of you Too many ashore And the distant land The seas unite Bringing me to you

I got something on my mind Makes me sad and makes me cry - oh no Johnny wanna live Just an ordinary day An animal will pass away - oh no Johnny wanna live Who's to say he got no rights Even not a right to life Don't know why it leaves you cold Don't know how to make it show - oh no Johnny wanna live Johnny wanna live Got to give his skin away For coats the wear on summer days - oh no Johnny wanna live Beauty aid and all the rest Come directly from a test - oh no Johnny wanna live Through his eyes I look inside his heart He can feel like me an you Can't defend himself cause he can't talk And this is why I talk to you Johnny isn't just a name He stands for every creature's pain - on no Johnny wanna live Johnny wanna live Go an try to look inside his heart You can find your own mistakes Try to hide them thinking he can't talk But he can read them on your face Tell me why it leaves you cold I swear I'm gonna to make it show - oh no Johnny wanna live - oh no Johnny wanna live (repeat some times) |
By Now Written by Music: Schwarz, Meissner, Peterson Lyrics: Schwarz, Brightman
I look in your eyes And I see a little bit of heaven in view I face your disguise and I See you running too A teardrop of silence That's dissipating in an ocean of blue So let me dive under In memory of you By now it's loving and affection By now it's love By now it's loving and affection, baby By now it's love And will you still see me When I am lying under heavenly skies And will you still feel me When I reach out to you And when it's all over Just let me dive into the Pools of your eyes And then I'll float timeless Into a part of you By now it's loving and affection By now it's love By now it's loving and affection, baby By now it's love By now it's loving and affection By now it's love By now it's loving and affection, baby By now it's love By now it's loving and affection By now it's love By now it's loving and affection, baby By now it's love |
Island written by Music: Peterson Lyrics: Peterson, Andrews
What's life revealing But base reality Take it how you want to Nothing comes for free We go all round believing In perfect harmony Who tells us that's the right way? Just open up and see Like living on an island I'm lost no land in sight Like living on an island I'm drifting without end Somehow believe in this dream of life Like living on an island Never ending questions A trip through darkened space Sometimes getting nearer To question asked with grace But in the end it's all believing In whichever way you will The answer or the mystery Once black is now too white Like living on an island I'm lost no land in sight Like living on an island I'm drifting without end Somehow believe in this dream of life Like living on an island Like living on an island I'm lost no land in sight Like living on an island I'm drifting without end Somehow believe in this dream of life Like living on an island Like living on an island I'm lost no land in sight Like living on an island I'm drifting without end |

When It Rains In America
Written by Music: Schwarz, Meissner, Peterson Lyrics: Peterson, Schwarz, Brightman
Do you wanna feel freedom Do you wanna see sun and rain Do you wanna be near me Do you wanna light up the way A strange magical feeling That maybe baby we'll find someday I thought I heard you laughin' I never wanted to make you cry I only needed a reason To see a teardrop in your eye 'Cause lovin' you keeps me from the storm When it rains in America There's a place we can run to Far away from the city stare Where's the ocean's a desert But the wind still blows in your hair Where we can watch the sun go down When it rains in America When it rains in America When it rains in America When it rains in America Cause loving you keeps me from the storm. When it rains in America When it rains in America When it rains in America When it rains in America When it rains in America When it rains in America When it rains in America When it rains in America When it rains in America |

La Mer
Written by Music: Peterson Lyrics: Peterson, Brightman
The book Whale Nation by Heathcote Williams, where Sarah got the words spoken in from, uses the phrases "Ancient, unknown mammals" and "A velvet energy", and also refers to whales as "like Buddhists" the long poem. [Thanks to Pickle3985 & Jos Van Geffen for this info.]

The Second Element II written by Music: Peterson, Schwarz, Meissner Lyrics: Peterson, Pirs
Burning fire A light in the dark Shining day and night for me Flowing water The source of our life Covering the world Gentle air blowing Caressing my face Carry me into dreams of love The endless symphony ... Wasn't it you Who was filling my dreams The second element Everywhere you are rife Wasn't it you Who was filling the streams The second element With the power of life Creeks are winding Just seeking their way Hardly tryin' to reach the sea Raindrops falling From skies to the earth Bringing life to you and me Lakes of silence A magical sound Keeping secrets in the ground A perfect harmony ... Wasn't it you Who was breaking the light The second element And the rainbows arise Oh, wasn't it you Who was standing a fight The second element From the earth to the skies Wasn't it you, who was filling my dreams Wasn't it you, who was filling the streams Wasn't it you, who was breaking the light Wasn't it you? |

SARAH BRIGHTMAN
The musical career of Sarah Brightman needs little elaboration here, suffice to say that in the last decade her voice has graced stages worldwide, from the Metropolitan in New York to Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, from Broadway to sell out shows in London . Despite that, Brightman (32) is still seeking fresh challenges and this spring the release of her new album DIVE will undoubtedly become one more facet of her hugely successful recording career.
DIVE features fifteen songs linked by an aquatic theme, co-produce and created in collaboration with Enigma’s key member Frank Peterson.” wanted a concept album,” Brightman explains, but something more than just a collection of new age sounds.”
DIVE is group of songs with a nautical theme, with subjects ranging from the sirens of Greek mythology to the doomed sailors of Procol Harum’s classic “A Salty Dog” to the imaginative beauty beyond the scenery:
I look in your eyes
And I see a little bit of heaven in view
I face your disguise and
I See you running too
A teardrop of silence
That's dissipating in an ocean of blue
So let me dive under
In memory of you
Lyrics from “By Now”
It was Brightman who initiated the idea of DIVE. I was looking for something to fit in with what I was,” she explained. “I didn’t want to be Madonna or Paula Abdul or Lisa Stansfield. Somebody played me the Sadness,” by the German group, Enigma, and it was something I really liked.” Investigating further Brightman contacted Frank Peterson, a German musician and engineer who helped create Enigma’s sound with singer-songwriter Michael Cretu.
DIVE was written and recorded over a year’s time at Peterson’s studio in Hamburg and locations as far apart as London, Madrid and Tokyo, in a schedule fit around the singer’s concert schedule.
The first single to be released is “Captain Nemo” and the striking video (directed by Howard Greenhalgh) features Brightman as an underwater sea creature meeting Jules Verne’s mythical character, Captain Nemo.
Brightman is no stranger to pop music, having danced in two contemporary groups, “Pan’s People” and “Hot Gossip,” known to British television fans during the ‘70s, and having recorded and the Top 10 dance-oriented single “I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper” in 1978.
Still, it’s on the musical and concert stages that the singer has made her greatest impact, appearing in the original London cast of “Cats” and “The Phantom of the Opera,” both the London and Broadway productions of “Aspects of Love” (which she is currently performing in Los Angeles), as well as the first production of “I and Albert” and ‘The Nightingale” by American composer Charles Strouse, the New Sadler’s Wells Ballet Company presentation of “The Merry Widow,” being nominated for a Grammy as Best New Classical Artist for her recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Requiem” with opera star Placido Domingo, and appearing at prestigious concert halls around the world Brightman also sang the closing song (which was also the theme song) for the ‘92 Barcelona Olympics with Jose Carreras.
Born in London and raised in the South England country ofHertfordshire, Sarah is the eldest of six children Her father (whose recent death inspired “By Now”) was a property developer, her mother had studied dance before becoming a full-time housewife.
“I started training as a dancer when I was three,” Brightman recalls “Once I started, I didn’t really think I’d do anything else But when I realized that I probably wouldn’t get any further than the corps de ballet, at fourteen I started concentrating on my singing and my acting”
After finishing her schooling, Sarah joined Pan’s People, the popular dance troupe featured on “Top of the Pops,” and moved on to the “slightly more risque” Hot Gossip, featured dancers on Kenny Everett’s variety show.
After she created the role of Jemima in “Cats,” Brightman and Andrew Lloyd Webber were wed. The marriage lasted from 1982-’91, during which time Brightman created the leading role of Christine in “The Phantom of the Opera”.
Her duets of “The Phantom of the Opera “ and “All l Ask of You,” with Steve Harley and Cliff Richard, respectively, placed in the British Top 10 and have given her worldwide recognition.
While Brightman is continuing her “classical activities” she is committed to the new dimension of her career Her immediate plans involve upcoming television appearances, radio and video engagements and a bevy of other promotional activities.
